Rebounding and Cellulite – Fact and Fiction

Have you ever looked down at your thighs and found that dimpled, orange-peel like skin there? Then you know what I am talking about when I use the word “cellulite.” Did you know that a rebounder may help those dimples disappear? Let’s talk about rebounding and cellulite – fact and fiction.

What Is Cellulite?

It does not matter if you are fat or slim you can still have cellulite. It is found more often in women than men; perhaps because of hormones, and perhaps because women have a higher fat to muscle ratio than most men do.

Cellulite is a common yet harmless skin condition. It produces a dimpled appearance on the skin, making it look like the skin of an orange. The puckery look can appear on thighs, buttocks, hips, and belly. While it is a harmless condition, you probably would still like to find a way to get rid of it!

What Causes Cellulite?

Cellulite is normal fat that looks lumpy because it pushes against connective tissue, causing the skin above it to pucker. It tends to form when collagen breaks down, and fat cells take its place.

There are a variety or reasons that can contribute to this. An unhealthy diet, lack of physical activity, and dehydration are all stress factors on healthy skin that can make you more prone to cellulite.

Losing weight will reduce the total amount of fat on your body, but the connective tissue/fat issue will still be present. Toning your body to build more muscle helps to reduce the look of cellulite. The rebounder is an excellent way to tone your entire body with one simple exercise!

Factors Related to Cellulite

  • Aging
  • Body type – distribution of subcutaneous fat.
  • Dehydration
  • Ethnicity – cellulite is less noticeable in darker skin tones.
  • Genetics determine skin structure and texture. Even fit people can have cellulite. It tends to run in families, making genetics a large role to play.
  • Hormones
  • Inactivity – Extended periods of sitting leads to poor circulation.
  • Muscle tone
  • Poor Diet – studies suggest high-salt and high-carb diets may be to blame.
  • Pregnancy
  • Sex – 80-90% of women deal with cellulite.
  • Highly stressful life
  • Weight Gain makes cellulite more noticeable.

One of the best ways to help rid yourself of cellulite is by staying hydrated, working out to strengthen the muscle under the skin, and by eating a healthy diet.

The Rebounder Can Help You Reduce the Appearance of Cellulite

You body rids itself of waste through the lymph system. The act of jumping up and down, increases the circulation of lymph in your body. This can help remove toxins and fluid retention that may be causing the appearance of unsightly cellulite.

Rebounding will reduce stress. As you exercise on the rebounder, your body will release endorphins (the feel-good hormones) which in turn will reduce the stress hormone cortisol. The less stress you carry with you, the easier it is for your body to rejuvenate your skin and connective tissue.

Rebounding is an exercise that helps tone muscles and burn calories. Toned muscles provide a firm foundation for the layers of skin above them – creating a smoother appearance of your skin.

Rebounding and Cellulite – Fact and Fiction

Rebounding is an exercise that helps tone muscles and burn calories. Women enjoy it because it tones the thighs, buttocks, arms, abs, and back. It also burns fat and builds muscle.

However, cellulite of the skin is a naturally occurring phenomenon that cannot be easily fixed, and perhaps only temporary at best. There is no guarantee that it will be a permanent solution. But keeping your body toned, and your muscles strong is the best way to solve this problem.

Drink an adequate supply of water to keep your skin hydrated and smooth.

Tanning reduces the appearance of cellulite, yet there are cautions to take if you do too much tanning, because of the risk of skin cancer.

How Does Rebounding Effect Cellulite

Rebounding is an intense workout. A small study in the February 2017 issue of Science & Sports concluded that using a mini-trampoline rebounder is a vigorous physical activity. It is effective in achieving an optimal level of training according to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) guidelines.

Rebounding helps reduce the appearance of cellulite by increasing the blood flow to the surface of the skin. As you tone your muscles, your skin tightens and the appearance of cellulite decreases.

Rebounding on a mini trampoline strengthens the muscles and tightens the skin connected to those muscles. In time, your muscles and skin develop a firmer appearance.

The Beauty of the Rebounder

Rebounders – also called mini trampolines – are a great investment in the health of your skin, as well as the health of the rest of your body.

Rebounding increases the blood flow to all the cells in your body. It is a great way to strengthen your muscles. This in turn tightens your skin and gives you a smoother, more youthful appearance. As it strengthens muscles, it increases the production of collagen and elastin which tones and tightens skin; decreasing cellulite as well as wrinkles and sagging skin! The rebounder tones the body to give you a healthy look!

Rebounding and Cellulite

Is it fact or fiction that the rebounder helps your cellulite disappear? While cellulite may not totally disappear, rebounding can certainly help reduce the appearance of cellulite in some people. In addition, if you lose weight, you may lose some of the excess cellulite you carry with you, and the rebounder is an excellent way to help you lose weight!

  1. This is so interesting! Ever since I had kids, I’ve developed unwanted cellulite on my butt and thighs. I had no idea that rebounding was a thing and that it worked hard to reduce the amount of cellulite on your skin. I’ll have to try it out. Thanks for a great article and detailed analysis of cellulite and a healthy way to reduce it!
