There are two types of juicers on the market today. One is the cold press juicer, and one is the centrifugal juicer. The third type, called a Juice Press, is a commercial juicer and costs thousands of dollars.
We are considering the two types typically used at home; centrifugal vs. cold press juicers: what is the difference?
The Cold Press Juicer Takes Longer
The cold press juicer has a very slow turning auger, rotating at around 80-100 RPM. It crushes and extracts the juice, leaving a dry pulp.
The centrifugal juicer works quickly, spinning at 6,000-14,000 RPM. It uses a fast-spinning metal blade to juice the fruit and vegetables at high speed. This does not produce as much juice since the pulp is not as dry.
Do You Want the Foam?
There is a difference in texture between the two juices. With the cold press juicer, the slow-speed motor creates a fine, even texture juice which many feel is much more pleasing to taste. The centrifugal juicer produces more foam.
The centrifugal juice separates as it sits, which the cold press juice does not do.
Which One Is More Nutritious?
The cold press juicer, as its name implies, produces juice without creating heat thus protecting the nutrients in the juice. However, the juicing process of the cold press juicer takes longer, as it produces juice at a slower rate of speed.
Can I Make Juice from Green Leafy Vegetables?
Centrifugal juicers do not cope well with green leafy vegetables. Much of the vegetable ends up as waste. To produce a quality juice from green leafy vegetables, you would want to use a cold press juicer, it is much more efficient in juicing kale, spinach, and even herbs.
Juice From Strawberries and Raspberries
Soft fruits like berries will also produce more juice with the cold press juicers, as the centrifugal juicers are not efficient with this job.
Two Types of Juicers: Differences in Price!
Centrifugal juicers generally offer a more budget-friendly option than the cold press juicer. This is the main reason people prefer centrifugal juicers.
Cold press juicers are quieter and often produce a better quality juice, however the price of a cold press juicer is often higher. If you are serious about juicing, most people prefer to use a cold press juicer.
While both juicers have their merits, the price difference reflects the trade-off between affordability and the quality of the final juice in terms of nutritional value and taste.
The Difference in Sound they Produce
One drawback of the centrifugal juicer is the level of noise that it makes. As a rule, the cold press juicer is much quieter and should not be a disturbance to those around you.

Cleaning Your Juicer
It is necessary to learn how to care for your juicer properly so it will give you many years of useful service.
Procrastination is the greatest enemy of juicing. A juicer is not hard to clean. Clean it right away before the pulp hardens on the juicer.
Just a quick rinse under the kitchen tap will remove most of the excess fruit and/or veggies.
Read the instruction manual included with your juicer. See if it is one of the many models that are dishwasher safe.

What’s the Benefit of Juicing – 11 Health Benefits of Cold-Pressed Juice
Loved this article! I think I’ll have to side with Cold Press Juicers on this one. As you mentioned, even though Cold Press Juicers are slower, they are quieter and the juice is usually more nutritious because it creates less heat compared to the centrifugal juicers. The time it takes to juice isn’t that much of an issue for me, I don’t operate on a tight schedule. I’d love to take a look at the Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer. This article was really informative; thanks, and kudos to you and your work!
Hi Al, thanks for the comment! We had a centrifugal juicer and cleaning out the pulp was quite a chore, compared to the cold press juicer. My choice is the Omega VSJ843QS Vertical cold press juicer, as our kitchen is small. I like its compact design and the 15-year coverage on parts and performance. The noise level with our centrifugal juicer made it difficult to hold a conversation while the juicer was going.
Great article. well what I have to say is, A centrifugal juicer can give you juices 3 times faster than the cold press juicers. Remember that you also need to cut the ingredients into smaller pieces before you place them on the juicer to prevent clogging. Quiet performance – These units are very quiet when extracting juices from fruits and vegetables.
Hi Emmanuel, thanks for stopping by with a comment. Before purchasing any juicer, I like to check on the size of the chute. It is such a time-saver to have a large chute that reduces the amount of cutting that is required. If time is of the essence, a centrifugal juicer is the way to go. If the amount of noise it makes, is important, the cold press juicer would be your best option. You need to determine your top priorities, as everyone is different.
