Definition of a Cold Press (Slow) Juicer

Slow juicers are also called cold press juicers, or masticating juicers. According to Merriam-Webster’s definition, “masticate” means to grind or crush (food) or to soften or reduce to pulp by crushing or kneading. That is a good definition to describe the Omega slow juicer. Without heat, they crush and strain fruit and vegetables to produce fine-quality juice, full of nutrients and enzymes.

Consider What Your Needs Are Before Making Your Purchase.

  • How much juice do you want to make… one glass, one quart, one gallon?
  • Do you want to juice fruits, vegetables, greens?
  • Will you be using your juicer daily?
  • What is your budget? Typically, as juice yield increases, so does the cost.
  • What is the warranty on parts and labor? Is there a return policy? Spare parts are available from the Omega manufacturer.
  • Do you have the time to properly care for your machine… assemble, disassemble, and clean?
  • Will you need to move it frequently for storage? If you have limited kitchen space a compact design would be to your advantage.

4. Omega Juicer NC800HDS Juice Extractor and Nutrition System

In my opinion, this is the best Omega juicer I have found. It weights the most, yet is the most versatile. You will enjoy the quiet motor on this slow, 80 RPM, cold press juicer. The benefits of this juicer are more nutrients and enzymes because the juice is produced with very little heat. It has dual stage extraction and adjustable settings. As a rule, slow juicers do not juice soft fruit like strawberries very well. If you want to include soft fruit in your juice, follow the soft fruit with hard fruit like apples to clean out the auger.

3 Tips for Making Juice with Low Sugar Content

To keep a low sugar content in your juice, use mostly vegetables – 80% vegetables, and 20% fruit. Check out this post on lowering your blood sugar naturally.

4 Tips for Using Your Omega Juicer

To make juice with your juicer you will need to prep your produce. Wash, and remove pits, and thick peels. (Peel citrus and kiwi – apples do not need to be peeled – avocado need to be peeled and the pit removed). Cut your produce small enough to fit into the Omega juicer feed chute.

Some chutes are bigger than others and can handle larger chunks. Do not force the produce through the auger, let the machine do the work.

Put soft fruit through first and follow it with hard fruit like apples to clear out the chute. Slow juicers do not work optimally juicing only soft fruit.

Omega Slow Juicer Review

You now have a choice of 4 Omega Cold Press Juicers. In my opinion the best quality juicer is the Omega Juicer NC800HDS Juice Extractor and Nutrition System. It is larger and costs a bit more than the other juicers but would give you the best service.

The Omega Juicer H3000RED Cold Press 365 Slow Masticating Juice Extractor is the most compact and does a good job at juicing fruit and vegetables.

The other Omega juicers are also good machines and provide their owners with years of quality service.
