What’s the Benefits of Juicing? – 11 Health Benefits of Cold-Pressed Juice.

#1 Loaded with Nutrients and Vitamins

Fruit and vegetables are essential to good health. With the busyness of everyday life, often it is difficult to get all the benefits of fresh fruit and vegetables in our diet. Many of the nutrients of processed foods are destroyed by modern food processing.

Cold-pressed juice is typically prepared at refrigerated temperatures with minimum exposure to oxygen. With this minimal amount of processing, an abundance of essential vitamins, antioxidants, enzymes, and proteins are preserved, and can retain most of their nutrients. It is an effective way to maintain the fresh-like attributes of the original produce. This juice will provide all the enzymes, nutrients, minerals, and vitamins. Cold-pressed juice is just oozing with the following nutrients:

Vitamin A

improves eyesight, lowers your risk of certain cancers, supports a healthy immune system, reduces your risk or acne, and supports bone health. Some fruits and vegetables high in vitamin A are –carrots, mango, cantaloupe, apricot, tangerine, and nectarines.

Vitamin C

is a micro-nutrient that plays a part in many vital processes of your body. It is involved in the growth and repair of tissue throughout your body. It helps to produce new collagen cells in your skin cells. This improves the health and glow of the skin. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that will help keep the immune system strong. It is found in bell peppers, citrus fruits, vegetables in the cabbage family, cantaloupe, strawberries, kiwi fruit, and dark leafy greens.

Vitamin E

is also an antioxidant which helps to slow down damage to the cells in our body. It works to block free radicals to reduce wrinkles and give you that youthful glow. Nuts, seeds, and vegetables are a good source of vitamin E.

Magnesium

is a nutrient that is needed to regulate muscle and nerve function, blood sugar levels, and blood pressure. Good sources of Magnesium are Avocados and green, leafy vegetables.

Potassium

is an especially important mineral in the body. It will help to regulate cardiovascular health, fluid balance, muscle contractions, and nerve signals. Foods high in potassium are bananas, cucumber, orange, tomato, apricot, and grapefruit.

Folate

is beneficial for reproductive health. Research also shows that those who eat a diet with adequate folate tend to have lower risk for heart disease, heart attack and stroke. Leafy greens, citrus fruit, and nuts and seeds are all a good source of folate.

#2 Rich in Antioxidants

Fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants that will help to fight free radicals in your body. Grapes, mangoes, berries, and spinach are rich in antioxidants. Cold-pressed juice from these fruits will prevent early symptoms of aging.

The benefits of cold-pressed juice in anti-aging include, clear the skin, help in reducing wrinkles and fine lines, and an overall improved sense of well-being.

#3 More Easily Absorbed by the Body

While no one will dispute the fact that eating the whole food is best, there are times when we want to get the full nutrition from the whole food and absorb it quickly. According to the American Cancer Society, juice in its liquid form provides these nutrients, making them more readily available to the body. So, if someone is sick, whole, cold pressed juice would be a great way to get a higher concentration of nutrients quickly delivered to the body.

#4 May Promote Weight loss

An important benefit of cold-pressed juice is that it may promote weight loss. By drinking it, your body will be satisfied and not crave processed sugars anymore.

Have a glass of juice in the early morning, it will keep you feeling full throughout the day. Cold-pressed juice before lunch or dinner may help you consume less calories then as well.

However, be certain to maintain a balanced diet so you get the right amount of protein, fats, and carbohydrates in your daily food intake.

Pectin is soluble fiber that can help regulate the liver, intestines, and colon to perform their detox action. A large percentage of pectin from fruit remains in the cold-pressed juice. Organic cold-pressed juice will also help restore a pH balance to your body.

#6 Boost the Immune System

Cold-pressed juice delivers the goodness from fruits and vegetables into your body. A deficiency of vitamins and minerals puts people at higher risk for infections.

A diet that provides adequate amounts of vitamin C and other nutrients will keep your immune system strong and better able to fight any infections that do come along.

The Centrifugal Juicer vs. the Cold-Press Juicer

According to the lab results from the YouTube above, cold-pressed juice has a longer nutritional shelf life  than that of the juice produced by the centrifugal juicer.

The Cold-Press Juicer

The cold press juicer is also known as a masticating juicer. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines “masticate” as “to grind or crush (food)…” or “to soften or reduce to pulp by crushing…” The cold press juicer extracts the juice from fruit and vegetables by grinding or squeezing.

The cold-press juicer is efficient for making juice from greens, highly efficient in making nut milk, and nut butters from nuts, and is quieter to operate than a centrifugal juicer.

The cold press juicer produces a very dry pulp from the fruit and vegetables as it allows you to get 100% of the juice from the produce. It works slowly as it extracts the powerful enzymes, vitamins, and trace minerals from the fruit and vegetables.

The Centrifugal Juicer

The centrifugal juicer extractor is the most common type of juicer on the market. It has a sharp metal blade which spins extremely fast against a mesh filter to extract the juice out of fruits. This in turn generates heat as compared with a cold-pressed juicer.

Many believe that this heat reduces the amounts of nutrients and enzymes produced in the juice. Oxidation takes place during the juicing process. This causes less nutrient retention and a shorter shelf life.

The centrifugal juicer does not extract juice out of leafy greens nor make nut milk. It creates a noise like a blender during the juicing process. Juice prepared with the centrifugal juicer is best to be consumed right away.

This assumes that the cold-press juicer produces the healthier juice.

In Conclusion

So, what’s the benefits of juicing? – 11 health benefits of cold-pressed juice.

The cold-pressed juices are loaded with nutrients and vitamins. We make no claims that juicing will be a miracle cure to “prevent” or “cure” all kinds of conditions.

To sum it up, cold-pressed juice can help to promote good health as you maintain an overall healthy lifestyle.

  1. I’ve actually been looking into juicing so I’m glad I came across your article! I take a lot of vitamins at lunch that I know I could easily get more of with fruits and veggies in the morning or as an afternoon juice! I definitely have a bad sweet tooth at night so it could be super helpful. Thank you for sharing!

    1. Hi Haley, and thanks for stopping by with a comment. The natural sugars, fibers, and nutrients found in cold pressed juice reduces our cravings and we feel satisfied. That way we can use natural foods to help us control our sweet tooth additions! All the best!

  2. Hi Carolyn,

Thank you for this in-depth article about the benefits of juicing.

I want to start drinking juices, but I didn’t know which type of juicer to buy, a centrifugal or a cold press. You’ve helped me make my decision to choose the cold press juicer. Will you publish some recipes too in the future? I have high cholesterol and terrible knees, so I wondered if there are special recipes to cure these symptoms? Sorry if I deviate from the subject:).

One more question, please. Where would be the best place to buy a cold press juicer?

    Thanks a lot!

    1. Hi Daniella, and thanks for stopping by with a comment! As we fill our body with the nutrients and whole foods that it needs, we often see it respond well to the care and attention we give our bodies. I do not know the the specific cause of your knee problems, but I do know that a plant-based diet, that is when a large percentage of our diet is plant based, it works wonders to clean our veins and reduce our cholesterol levels. It helps us keep our weight at a healthy level, and that in turn may alleviate some pressure off of your knees. All the best in the future!

  3. Thanks for the informative post! Not only that fruits and vegetables help in supplying nutrients and vitamins to the body, they also help ensure that you don’t grow belly fat. It’s interesting to learn that cold-pressed juices aren’t made with the use of a blender or using heat.

What a coincidence! Carrots and tangerine were recommended for me days ago as part of the fruits and vegetables that are rich in Vitamin A, boosting immune system and improving eyesight. Appreciate the benefit of Vitamin E, detoxification, weight loss, and boosting energy!

    1. Hi Michael, and thanks for stopping by with a comment! When we feed our body the correct nutrients that it needs we can usually expect it to respond in the way it is intended to respond. Healthy food, will provide the cells the nutrients they need and will not accumulate in excess amounts around the waist. It is often excess starches and sugars that the body does not know how to use efficiently.

Centrifugal juicers cause heat as they produce the juice and break down the cell walls of the produce in the process. It is for this reason, that cold press juice retains its nutrients for a longer period of time than juice made by centrifugal juicers.
